Yacht (Jacht) - Surveyor - Marine Surveyors are
Experts in Yacht (Jacht) and Vessel
Inspection-Services
PRE PURCHASE SURVEY -
A comprehensive and objective
look at a vessel before
purchase is completed. Survey
must be performed out of the
water, and may include engine
oil analysis and a sea trial.
Typically this survey report
will run to 12-15 pages and
takes most of a day on site
with a further day to write the
report.
CONDITION AND VALUE SURVEY-
Usually conducted for insurance
updating purposes. Sometimes
can be conducted in water,
dependent on Insurance company
desires. A slightly less
detailed report than a pre
purchase survey, it is intended
to confirm that the vessel
remains in a seaworthy
condition and is being
adequately maintained.
DAMAGE ASSESSMENT - Performed
when a vessel has been involved
in a collision or grounding.
Determines extent of damage,
likely extent of repairs needed.
May include opinions as to
cause if necessary.
CORROSION PROBLEMS - Captain
Hansen has successfully
completed the ABYC Certified
Corrosion Technician Course and
is available for consultation
on this subject.
INSURANCE CLAIMS - Prompt
accurate service. Including
initial reports, thorough
investigation, and adjustment.
DELIVERIES - Deliveries can be
arranged virtually anywhere.
This service is necessarily
dependent on weather and the
nature of the vessel. Can be
summed up by our policy - "Careful
deliveries of sound vessels in
a safe and timely manner".
NEW CONSTRUCTION AND PROJECT
MANAGEMENT - Overseeing and
management services available
locally or offshore for vessel
construction, repair or
commissioning.
CONSULTING - We can provide
preparation assistance for
litigation on marine matters.
Testimony can be made available
on items which fall within our
field of expertise.
LECTURES- Captain Hansen is
available to speak to yacht
clubs or other boating oriented
groups. Presentations are
interesting and informative.
Focus is usually on safety and
boat maintenance, but other
timely topics can be addressed
if desired. If you represent a
club or activity that would
like to use this service call
to arrange a suitable date and
time. There is normally no
charge locally. If travel is
involved, simple expenses only
need to be covered.
HINTS AND TIPS FOR BOATERS - A
series of brochures have been
prepared on various boating
safety and maintenance topics.
These brochures are based on
the combined experience of
several marine surveyors and
contain easy to read common
sense advice. Copies are
available at suitable locations
in the Greater Victoria area,
or can be had on request.
CONTRACTING FOR A SURVEYOR -
There are many reputable
surveyors around, but please
remember, marine surveying is
an unregulated business. Make
sure you know what you are
contracting for before you sign.
Look carefully at credentials,
experience and practice. Don't
be afraid to ask hard questions.
If in doubt, call for our
brochure on this subject. There
is no obligation.
FEE STRUCTURE - For pre
purchase surveys of smaller
vessels, fees are usually
charged by the foot. For other
activities and larger or unique
vessels, an hourly rate
covering the length of time
necessary to complete the job
and write the report applies.
No travel expenses are charged
within 50 miles of Victoria.
Beyond that distance charges
are for "actual and reasonable
expenses only". Call for a
quote.
